The Mission

Youth Arts Collective (YAC) is a non profit after school organization which provides equipment, supplies and individual mentorship to motivated young Monterey County artists, ages 14-22. Since January of 2000, YAC has been open five days a week, and now six days, for four hours a day year round.

This creative sanctuary has proven to be effective and successful in maximizing the art potential of our youth, while developing their self- esteem and their appreciation for contributing in positive ways to our community.

Founders

YAC is the creation of the two mentor-artists, Marcia Perry and Meg Biddle. Biddle and Perry have been partners in Biddle Perry Studios since 1981. They have created murals, illustration, paintings, limited edition prints, cartoons, and images for products. As parents, they volunteered their artistic help in the local schools for such things as set designs, murals and classroom instruction for 10 years. At Youth Arts Collective, they mentor each YACster individually, providing artistic guidance in a creative and nurturing environment.
